After a really tedious year i had the great chance to spend a relaxing one week period to a wonderfull place called Stemnitsa[1],[2] located in Arcadia Greece.The days had passed quickly and i wish i could have some more time to spend here.Below are some photographs taken by a friend of mine

Very long time no post here and is about time for an update.I setup a web server in my home machine register an account in dydns and created a personal website here.The site is in it’s early stage of development and it needs a lot of work to be done but feel free to comment and propose suggestions for it.Next week starts the new semester in my university which i am looking forward to it because i will attend two very interesting courses one in object-oriented programming using java and an another in cryptography and security of information systems.In other news i got added among with other great people in planet hellug which is an aggregation of blogs from the Greek community of open source.

I found a very interesting article here talking about what GPUs and drivers is needed to run Beryl in Linux.

As i wrote in my last post i wanted to find a way so that ath0 will start automatically on boot and dhcpcd configure it then.The solution to this is quite easy.The only thing i have to do is first create the script file with ln -s /etc/init.d/net.lo /etc/init.d/net.ath0 then add to /etc/conf.d/net this line config_ath0=( “dhcp” ) and last add it to the default runlevel with rc-update add net.ath0 default.

Recently i bought a D-Link AirPlus DWL-G520 Wireless PCI Adapter for one desktop machine i have.I manage to get it working in gentoo with wpa-psk following these steps.
First after i insert the card in the box i run update-pciids so lspci list the card
# lspci |grep Ethernet
01:08.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

Then i emerged net-wireless/madwifi-ng and net-wireless/madwifi-ng-tools to provide me the driver for the card.So with modprobe ath_pci the module is loaded.

Next as i read in the handbook here i have to emerge net-wireless/wpa_supplicant and edit /etc/conf.d/net as follows

and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf like that

After that i run wpa_supplicant -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -iath0 -Dmadwifi -B to start the wpa_supplicant daemon and last i run dhcpcd -n ath0 so that ath0 interface takes an ip.
So far so good but now i have to find a way so ath0 will start automatically on boot and dhcpcd configure it then.Does anyone have any hint?(for the solution see my later post )

Πριν μερικές μέρες ο φίλος μου Μάνος πήγε στην γραμματεία της σχολής μας για να ρωτήσει για πιο λόγο δεν έχει γίνει ακόμη η ηλεκτρονική ανάρτηση των αποτελεσμάτων της δεύτερης εξεταστικής έτσι ώστε να μάθουμε τι έχουμε περάσει για να κάνουμε μετά την δήλωση των μαθημάτων.Αφού ρώτησε την γραμματέα η ίδια είπε οτι δεν γνωρίζει κάτι για το θέμα και ρώτησε την υπεύθυνη για αυτήν την δουλειά τι έχει κάνει μέχρι τώρα.Η απάντησή της ήταν αφοπλιστική, <<έχω κάνει κάμποσα>>.Η γραμματέας τη ρώτησε πόσα είναι αυτά τα κάμποσα αλλά δεν πήρε συγκεκριμένη απάντηση.Έτσι της είπε να της δείξει τι έχει περάσει μέχρι τώρα και να ανοίξει το συρτάρι που έχει τα χαρτιά με τις βαθμολογίες.Το συρτάρι ήταν γεμάτο με χαρτιά, και στην συνέχεια την ρώτησε αν αυτά είναι όλα που έχει κάνει;Η απάντηση της υπαλλήλου η αναμενόμενη : <<όχι αυτά είναι όλα που δεν έχω κάνει>>.Με την συγκεκριμένη απάντηση έγινε χαμός.Η γραμματέας με αυστηρό ύφος άρχισε να επιπλήττει την υπάλληλο λέγοντάς της γιατί τα άφησε να μαζευτούν τόσο καιρό χωρίς να κάνει τίποτα αφού αυτή ήταν η μοναδική της δουλειά καθώς και οτι εκείνη την ημέρα το μόνο που είχε κάνει ήταν να πάει να πάρει μερικές υπογραφές.Τελικά το αποτέλεσμα ήταν μέσα στις επόμενες πέντε μέρες όλα τα αποτελέσματα να περαστούν στην ιστοσελίδα με τις βαθμολογίες.Αλλά γιατί να χρειαστεί να πάει κάποιος να παραπονεθεί για να κάνουν κάποιοι την δουλειά για την οποία πληρώνονται;

I have a very long time to post something here, approximately 3 months.During that period of time i had some difficult moments considering my health but i managed to recover.When i was down i saw a small piece of text written in a paper and now i try to follow it as i can:

Life is an unstoppable war
and we die with our arms in our hands

Η νιόπαντρη γυναίκα λέει στο σύζυγό της με πολύ νάζι:
- Έχω πολύ ευχάριστα νέα. Σύντομα σε αυτό το σπίτι δε θα είμαστε μόνο οι δυο μας, αλλά θα έχουμε και έναν τρίτο στην οικογένεια.
Ο νεαρός σύζυγος άρχισε να τη φιλάει σαν τρελός.
- Αγάπη μου, είμαι ο πιο ευτυχισμένος άντρας του κόσμου.
- Χαίρομαι που χαίρεσαι όσο κι εγώ, ξαναλέει η σύζυγος. Αύριο το πρωί έρχεται η μητέρα μου για να μείνει μαζί μας.

Πέρασε αρκετός καιρός χωρίς να γράψω κάτι και μέσα σε αυτό το διάστημα πολλά άλλαξαν.Για αρχή ξεκίνησε το καινούργιο εξάμηνο με πολλές υποχρεώσεις και αρκετά δύσκολα μαθήματα.Ανάμεσα σε αυτά είναι και μερικά που δεν χωνεύω, είτε λόγω του καθηγητή και του τρόπου που διδάσκει το μάθημα (βλέπε τηλειατρική), είτε λόγω της ύλης τους και του όχι ενδιαφέροντος που παρουσιάζουν (βλέπε ανάπτυξη εφαρμογών πολυμέσων με visual basic ).Στα υπόλοιπα μέτωπα μετά το θάνατο του παλιού μου κινητού (ένα αρχαίο siemens c55 το οποίο είχα 4 χρόνια) αγόρασα τo SONY ERICSSON K510I απο το eshop.Οι πρώτες εντυπώσεις που έχω είναι αρκετά καλές και το χαρακτηριστικό που μου έχει κάνει ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση είναι οτι με το καλώδιο USB που συμπεριλαμβάνεται στην συσκευασία εκτός απο την μεταφορά δεδομένων φορτίζει κιόλας.Λόγω μη ελεύθερου χρόνου ακόμα δεν έχω δοκιμάσει να το δουλέψω στο Linux αλλά μια απο αυτές τις ημέρες όταν μπορέσω θα το δοκιμάσω.Περισσότερες πληροφορίες μπορείτε να βρείτε εδώ.Κατά τα άλλα ο καιρός τρελάθηκε και ενώ για παράδειγμα χτές μπορεί να έβρεχε και να έκανε κρύο σήμερα μπορεί να έχει ήλιο και ζέστη (για την εποχή που είμαστε).Αυτό είχε ως αποτέλεσμα την περασμένη εβδομάδα να αρρωστήσω και να είμαι στο κρεβάτι δύο μέρες με πυρετό.Λοιπόν, οτι έιχα να πω αυτά ήταν.Τώρα πρέπει να πάω να διαβάσω και να ετοιμάσω μια άσκηση στη visual basic (χειρότερη γλώσσα προγραμματισμού κατ’ εμένα δεν υπάρχει.Μερικές φορές νομίζω οτι η ζωή είναι άδικη…)
